There is an inscription on inside front cover dated 1835 King George lll was still on the throne the year this Book was published but George prince of Wales became regent and ruled Britain because of his father’s insanity Some fascinating engravings are in this book some with typical fashions of the day the child smoking a clay pipe in the first picture shown is quite amusing so forget about the religous aspect of this book if you enjoy anything from this era this book contains some great engravings from the era of our mad king George III & George prince Regent which could be removed and framed the choice is yours? an example of this book on the abebooks site is £150+ (More info)

Signed by Author. Greater Love by the Revd. David Youngson, a member of our Cleveland Branch, is a soft covered A4 book. Its purpose is revealed in the subtitle A DIRECTORY OF CHAPLAINS OF THE BRITISH ARMY AND COMMONWEALTH FORCES. The plaque displayed originally at the RAChD chapel at Bagshot Park and now at Amport House commemorates the 172 chaplains who died in the Great War. Their names are inscribed in the Garrison Church in Aldershot. It does not include them all and David has produced a comprehensive list in the form of biographies, some with portraits, of those brave padres, all of whom died between 1914 and 1922 with details of their careers and dates and place of death and burial. There are also details of honours and awards. There is a separate nominal roll and a list by cemetery/memorial a list by denomination and a roll of officiating ministers from the non-conformists. In all, there are 257 entries which makes this the most comprehensive memorial to chaplains. Stemming from his research into his great uncle's role in World War One, The Revd David Youngson has compiled GREATER LOVE - A DIRECTORY OF CHAPAINS OF THE BRITISH ARMY AND COMMONWEALTH FORCES. In the first 57 pages, under country headings, each of the 172 chaplains is commemorated in a biographical paragraph of varying length - some with photographs - which also gives the location of any memorial; there is an alphabetical index of all those who died and another of cemetery and memorial references listed by country. There are two further indices: the first lists chaplains by denomination and the second by university, where applicable.
